Description
The Murray Happy Rider tricycle was a low-slung children’s tricycle from the 1960s and 1970s designed to look fast and stylish – almost like a miniature hot rod. It had a sturdy painted steel frame, a large front wheel with pedals attached directly and two smaller rear wheels set wide apart for balance.
Unlike a traditional upright tricycle, the rider sat reclined in a molded plastic bucket seat with legs stretched forward, giving it more of a go-kart feel. Bright colors, chrome trim, racing decals and high curved handlebars gave the Happy Rider its distinctive look.
