Description

When it comes to outdoor eyewear preferences, one should expect nothing less from Ed Rooney than the “cutting edge” style of Foster Grant’s Spec 1000 Flip-Up Sunglasses. According to Foster Grant, these glasses offered a “dramatic flip-up styling” and “versatility and performance in driving, sports, or any activity with changeable conditions.”

It’s fair to say that no one could ever take advantage of the flip-up styling more dramatically than a Ferris-tracking Mr. Rooney backed by Ira Newborn’s score.

As Mr. Rooney surveys the “battlefield” before him, FBDO viewers get to see the Spec 1000’s in full flip-up mode (00:47:57)

The Spec 1000 model was offered in a variety of lens types including Polarized (“the best lens to reduce reflected glare”), Space Tech Coated (“the world’s hardest lens coating”), Mirror (“sporty look plus protection”) and All-Weather (“amber acrylic lenses block blue light, enhance visual clarity”).

Notes

The Foster Grant Spec 1000 sunglasses gained enough popularity that they were followed by the Spec 2000 model.

The Spec 2000 is labeled at the top center of the glasses while the Spec 1000 is identified by the lettering in the corner of the left lens.
